Real Music

There was a piano recital today at my local mall. It was very interesting because the kids playing in this recital were very young, and VERY talented!

A little tidbit about myself- I also play the piano. The amazing thing about these kids though, was that they were as good, if not better than me! Waaay better!

I was very impressed by the show that these young kids put on and I’ll admit, I was a little envious!

After all these years that I’ve invested in learning how to play the piano, I couldn’t believe that children 1/4 my age were playing as good or better than me. Wow!

Then I started thinking how this is similar to our spiritual walk. I find it amazing when I meet people who claim to have been Christians for 20 or more years, yet are no further in their spiritual walk than someone who has been a Christian for just 2 years. How can this be???

Going back to the piano recital, I’ve come to the conclusion that I just didn’t invest enough time in practicing as those young kids did. I recall dreading my Thursday night lessons, and I remember not rehearsing and studying when I should have been...In truth, my heart was just never in it.

If our heart is with Christ, as we claim it to be, then shouldn’t we spend some quality time studying, serving, praying...and growing in our walk?

...Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. Matthew 22:37-38

ABSOLUTELY CLINT!!! This is a VERY good point... I find myself convicted in a 'good way' though... Thanks because this is an encouraging reminder to keep wanting to grow and learn and move...
