I recently had the chance to visit Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua. While there, we were invited to attend a church service at the Iglesia Marvava, or the Moravian Church. They put on a special service for us. Their children's' choir sang beautifully, the church staff gave us fresh coconuts, and the congregation was most welcoming.
The service was spoken in three languages. English (for us), Miskito (the Indian dialect spoken by some), and Spanish. What I found amazing was the fact that the fellowship we shared that day was not limited by language, nationality, or even denomination. The fellowship that we shared was not bound by any of those physical limitations or boundaries.
Friends, it was clear to me that day that as Christians, we have a universal fellowship with all other true believers- bound together by Christ Jesus Himself. What an amazing thing!
Needless to say, I really enjoyed my stay there and was sad to say goodbye to my new friends. As I was boarding the bus to leave the church, an elderly woman grabbed me by the arm to shake my hand. She said, "Please- don't ever forget us."
I won't.
If you are interested in helping, donating, or corresponding with the Moravian Church, I'm sure that they'd love to hear from you and other believers. Below is their contact info:
